Brussels, November 2008 – TOSHIBA TEC Europe has announced a collaboration with systems integrator Koning & Hartman (K&H) to support customers who are looking to migrate their embedded applications from Microsoft Windows XP Pro to Windows XP Embedded. Working with K&H can help customers to quickly and easily take advantage of the technical and commercial benefits that Windows XP Embedded can bring to single-function systems such as information kiosks, Point of Sales systems, hospitality solutions and signage applications. TOSHIBA TEC Europe is a member of Microsoft's Windows Embedded Partner Program (WEP). The WEP was designed to provide a wide range of benefits to partner companies utilizing the Microsoft Windows Embedded Family of products with the intent of enabling WEP partners to bring their Windows Powered products to market faster. The agreement with K&H includes WEPOS (Windows Embedded for Point of Service), used for its built-in networking capabilities, which make it easy to connect a variety of current and legacy retail device peripherals, PCs, servers, and services in the retail and hospitality markets that work together on a single point-of-service system, ranging from ATMs to music-dispensing fuel pumps. Masamichi Kusunoki, President and CEO TOSHIBA TEC Europe said: “We work closely with selected companies to ensure hardware compatibility and to create technology breakthroughs. Of equal importance, our collaboration with software companies helps to ensure that our hardware is easy to integrate and supports the specific needs of our customers.” Microsoft's Doug Follett, the EMEA Channel Manager for OEM Embedded Sales, concludes: "We are always pleased to see collaboration between our partners, delivering the benefits of the Windows Embedded platform to a wider range of customers. From smaller footprints to lower license fees, Windows XP Embedded can provide a number of benefits, and TOSHIBA TEC and K&H are able to provide a sure route to delivering these benefits."
