HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, September 2008 – TOSHIBA TEC Europe, the Auto ID specialists, will launch the 2" B-EP2DL and the 4" B-EP4DL portable label printers to extend its support of advanced mobile applications in retail, hospitality and warehousing environments. The new B-EP2DL and B-EP4DL meet all requirements for integration into legacy systems, protecting customer investments. The ever-increasing need for mobility and efficiency in the workplace requires a smart networking capability, both wired and wireless, which is also included in the new TOSHIBA TEC designs. Built on the success of the outstanding B-SP2D printer series, the B-EP2DL and the B-EP4DL are portable thermal printers with a contemporary and rugged design to meet the needs of today’s demanding mobile applications. With heavy duty work in mind, the printer has passed drop tests at heights of up to 1.8 meters on concrete (B-EP2DL). The printer is driven by a 32-bit CPU and is equipped with a full range of interfaces and a backlit LCD screen and key interface. The new TOSHIBA TEC models are unique with their ability to not only have a perfect view but equally to allow users and administrators to change the settings and configurations directly on the device. The B-EP2DL and B-EP4DL label printers are Microsoft® Windows® compatible and feature a full range of communication interface versions including RS-232 Serial, Infrared (IrDA), USB 2.0, wireless LAN and Bluetooth® which makes the printer suitable for portable POS and remote transaction processing applications. Each thermal label printer includes a high capacity Lithium-Ion battery for an extended number of printable labels. It has an internal fast charge circuit that re-charges the battery on the move. Optional power adapters include an AC adapter, 48 V input DC adapter, 12 V vehicle cigarette lighter adapter (only for the B-EP2DL). The 2" B-EP2DL label printer is equipped with a 7.4 V Li-ion battery and delivers 2.6 ampere hour of power; the 4" B-EP4DL houses a 14.8 V Li-ion battery that equally delivers 2.6 ampere hour of power to significantly increase the portables’ performance. The B-EP2DL 2" label printer has a single roll capacity of 400 labels of 50 mm length while the 4" B-EP4DL model achieves a single roll output of 530 labels of 50 mm. Both models support a continuous strip issue whereby every printed label smoothly generates the automatic issuing of the next label, hereby increasing the overall throughput. For added mobility and ease of use, an integrated belt clip or an optional Carry Case or Shoulder Strap is available.
