TOSHIBA TEC installs 600 award winning ST-A10 for the British Heart Foundation

1 March 2010 – Hemel Hempstead based TOSHIBA TEC has won a 650+ unit contract to supply every British Heart Foundation shop in the UK with the award winning ST-A10 TouchPOS system. The contract, which was won through a tender process, knocked out competition from Digipos, amongst others. TOSHIBA TEC has a long standing relationship with the British Heart Foundation, which has been using Toshiba EPOS tills for over 10 years.

“Reliability was the key issue for us! With only one unit per shop, if the system goes down the shop can’t operate,” said Steve Biddle, Head of Finance at the British Heart Foundation.” We have worked with TOSHIBA TEC for some years and their low power consumption technology and customer-focused approach to installation can’t be beaten.”

Rolling out to all our stores, across a variety of build configurations, in such a short period, is a major achievement, and we are very pleased with the results, which have been achieved with minimum disruption, despite the appalling weather in the first two weeks of the rollout.

TOSHIBA TEC’s engineering team are handling the countrywide roll out, installing the ST-A10 and all 3rd party peripherals over a 3 month period at a rate of up to 60 shops a week. All installations needed to be completed by 10am in order to minimise store disruption, with the Toshiba team remaining on site to ensure staff are happy and confident with the new technology.

As part of TOSHIBA TEC’s long standing CSR policy, the TOSHIBA TEC UK operations head office in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire recently took part in the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Red for Heart’ campaign raising money by holding a ‘Wear Red’ day to support the cause.
